St Andrews - Kinson
A magnificent church dating back over 900 years! St Andrews church is thriving with lots of different events going on. The graveyard is a peacefull place and is still used for burials today.
The smuggler Isaac Gulliver, later to be Sir Isaac Gulliver, used the Church as a useful hiding place, kegs of liquor were hauled up into the tower and a tomb, which now stands by the main door of the church is said to have been used to hide the contraband.
Also in the churchyard is the grave of one Robert Trotman, who was killed when trying to land contraband on the shore near Poole. Next month we feature St John's church in Moordown.

"We believe the Christian faith is about the great sacrifice of Jesus and how his life, death and resurrection means we have a hope for our lives. For many people church is only about Sunday, but we believe that the hope we have in Jesus’ is something that is relevant every day. Church shouldn’t just be something that people ‘do on Sunday’ - we have a range of different activities that people can get involved in throughout the week. "
The tomb said to have been used to stash contraband!
